Getting started with featurevote

Set up your board

featurevote boards let people post ideas and vote. Start by choosing what the board is for: a product or app, a community or audience, or a shared list. Each choice sets up a different starting board. Voting does not require an account.

Choose what people will vote on

When setting up your board, choose a product or app, a community or audience, or a shared list. A product board starts as Feature Board with three example requests if featurevote can read your website; otherwise it starts empty. A community board starts as Ideas, with any ideas you enter. A shared list is named after your list and starts with the options you enter. Rename the board in Settings → Details and manage requests on Feature Board. For a shared list, Message the team is off by default; turn it on through Issue reporting in Settings → Access and submissions.

Review your requests

Before sharing a board seeded from your website, review its example requests. They are already live and marked as examples; keep, edit, or delete them. If the board has no requests, the Feature Board page shows Fill your board in a minute. Enter your product URL and choose Draft starter requests. Review the drafts and publish them; you can also add requests by hand with New Feature Request.

Share your board

Each board has its own address. On a public board, anyone with the link can vote. In Home, use the ready message and Copy message, or choose Share where your browser supports it. Share the link through channels your audience already uses. Depending on your board type, Home may also offer Add the feedback button for a product or app, or Connect Discord or Patreon for a community or audience. Install and share in the sidebar has more ways to put your board in front of people.

Let voters know when requests ship

When you ship something people requested, mark it Completed and leave Notify Voters on. Voters who left an email will hear that it shipped. You can also publish a changelog to share the news with others.
