Run a public known issues list for your users

Turn on Known issues

In Settings → Portal features, find the Known issues card, turn on Show known issues, and save. Known issues is off by default and available on every plan.

Let visitors report and recognize bugs

With Known issues on, the post form offers Post an idea and Report a bug tabs. A bug report asks What went wrong? and uses a Report bug button. Visitors can report through the Known issues tab; when they encounter an existing bug, they can select Me too instead of posting it again. If posts require approval, bugs appear after approval.

What visitors see on the Known issues tab

The Known issues tab appears after Completed on the Feedback Portal. Bugs stay there from when they are reported until they are fixed, then move to Completed. Ideas remain in Requested, Planned, and In Progress; bugs stay off the public roadmap. Search still finds bugs. Each bug has a Bug tag and a Me too count. An empty tab says Nothing we know of is broken and offers a Report a bug button.

Understand bug stages

Bugs use the same statuses as ideas in the dashboard. On the Feedback Portal, those statuses appear as Reported (Requested), Confirmed (Planned), Fixing (In Progress), and Fixed (Completed). Not Planned works like it does for ideas, and the bug leaves the board.

Show a workaround on a bug

Add the workaround in the request’s Team update, using the request’s edit dialog. On an idea, the update appears when someone opens the post. On a bug, it also appears on the card under From the team.

Notify people when a bug is fixed

Mark the bug Completed as usual. With Notify Voters ticked, the email goes to the reporter and people who selected Me too, provided they left an email address and the plan’s email limit allows it. The email says Fixed and its subject reads Fixed - "…" rather than Completed - "…". A release note written when completing the bug appears under Fixed; the shared-link preview also says Fixed.

Change a request’s type

To correct a request filed as the wrong type, open its edit dialog and choose Idea or Bug under Type. Bugs and ideas share the same dashboard list and roadmap, so use the edit dialog to check a request’s type.

Link to Known issues or show it in an embed

Add ?tab=issues to your board link to open the Known issues tab directly. The full-board embed includes the Known issues tab and Report a bug. In the slide-in panel, visitors can find bugs and select Me too from the status menu, but its feedback form posts ideas. data-open has no Known issues value of its own.

Turn off Known issues

Turning off Show known issues does not hide bugs. They return to the usual tabs and roadmap, appear like ordinary requests with a Vote button and the usual status names, and a fixed bug’s email says Completed. Each request retains its type, so turning Known issues back on restores the tab.
