Set up and maintain your public roadmap
featurevote's public roadmap shows visitors what is planned, in progress and done, built from your feature requests and their statuses.
A roadmap shows users what you're working on and what's coming next. It turns feature requests into a transparent view of your priorities.
Why Use a Roadmap
When users submit a feature request, they want to know if you're listening. A roadmap answers that question without requiring constant replies.
It shows:
- What you're currently building
- What's planned for later
- What you've shipped
This keeps users informed and reduces repeat requests for the same feature.
How It Works
Admin View
Drag features between status columns to update their state. Reorder features within columns to prioritize them.
The admin roadmap: drag between columns to change status.
Available statuses:
- Requested — Submitted but not reviewed
- Planned — Decided, not started
- In Progress — Currently being built
- Completed — Shipped
- Not Planned — Won't be built
Public View
Users see only the statuses you choose to display. By default, they see In Progress, Planned, and Completed. The Roadmap tab appears on your board once an idea is in one of them.
The public roadmap: only the statuses you choose to show.
To change what's visible, click Roadmap Settings in your admin roadmap view. To hide the Roadmap tab altogether, turn off Show roadmap in Settings → Portal features.
With Known issues on, bugs stay off the public roadmap, fixed ones included. Visitors find open bugs on the Known issues tab and fixed ones under Completed in the list. Your admin roadmap still shows bugs next to the ideas.
When to Update It
Update your roadmap when:
- You start working on a feature
- A feature moves to testing or review
- Something ships
- You decide not to build something
You don't need to update it daily. Weekly updates are usually enough to keep users informed.
The shipped feature status has the stable value done. Some guides call it Done; the current status label is Completed. With Known issues enabled, shipped bugs use Fixed.
How bugs appear with Known issues enabled
When Known issues is enabled, bugs stay off the public roadmap, including fixed bugs. Visitors find open bugs on the Known issues tab and fixed bugs under Completed in the list. The admin roadmap continues to show bugs alongside ideas.
