What the Discord integration does
Connect Discord so members can suggest and vote from your server, log in to your Feedback Portal, and have votes weighted by their server roles. You can optionally limit participation to server members and post published changelogs to a channel. The integration is included on every plan.
Connect your server
Go to Settings → Integrations, click Connect Discord, then choose your server and authorize the Feedback app. Adding the bot requires Manage Server permission on that server. Once connected, the Discord row names your server. The bot joins with no permissions; featurevote reads the server name, icon, and role list when you connect, but does not read your channels.
Set role weights and participation rules
In the Discord row, set a multiplier for each role from ×1 to ×100. Roles start at ×1, and a member with several roles counts at the highest weight. Only roles weighted above ×1 appear on your Feedback Portal. Members only is off by default; turn it on to limit voting, suggestions, and comments to server members. You can also choose whether non-members can view the board and whether members without a role can take part. Save your changes. Weight changes affect future votes only; votes already cast keep their original weight.
What members see on a gated board
On a board with Members only enabled, signed-out visitors see a Members only panel and a Log in with Discord button. If non-members cannot view the board, they see a lock screen instead. A Discord login counts for 30 days on a gated board. Members posting on a gated board use their Discord name and are not asked for an email address.
Suggest and vote from Discord
Members can use /suggest to add an idea, turn a chat message into a request with Apps → Add suggestion, or use /vote to browse open requests and vote. Requests submitted by members follow the board’s visitor-submission rules: they may wait for approval or be unavailable to members, depending on your settings. To restrict commands to certain roles or channels, use Server Settings → Integrations → Feedback in Discord.
Understand weighted vote totals
Feature cards show points, the sum of the weights behind a request. For example, three members with ×3 each contribute 9 points. When points differ from the number of people, the card also shows the voter count. Most Voted sorts by points. Slack vote milestones count people, not weighted points.
If Patreon and Discord are connected, a person linked to both gets the higher of their two weights, not their sum. With both Patrons only and Members only enabled, passing either gate allows participation. If only one gate is enabled, that gate controls participation and the other provider only adds weight.
Refresh roles and membership information
featurevote reads a member’s membership and roles when they log in on the board; role changes are not picked up until their next login. Use Refresh from Discord in the Discord row to load new, renamed, or removed server roles. Existing roles keep their multipliers, new roles start at ×1, and removed roles are dropped. Saved weight edits apply to linked members immediately for future votes. Votes already cast retain the weight they had when cast.
Post changelogs to Discord
In Settings → Integrations, open the Discord row and choose Pick a channel under Changelog posts. When publishing a changelog, the Post to #channel on Discord option is ticked by default once a channel is set. featurevote posts the changelog once as a short card linking to the full entry. Changelogs kept off the board are not posted, and the Discord post does not mention anyone.
Discord access and privacy
When you connect, featurevote reads your Discord identity and your server’s role list. When a member logs in, it reads who they are and their roles in your server. featurevote does not read channels; it reads a message only when someone uses Add suggestion on that message. It posts in Discord when someone uses a command or Vote button, or when you publish to a selected changelog channel.
