What the Patreon integration does
Connect a Patreon campaign so patrons can log in to your Feedback Portal and have votes weighted by their tier. You can optionally limit voting, suggestions, and comments to active patrons. The integration is included on every plan; plan limits apply to the board, not Patreon.
Connect your Patreon campaign
In featurevote, go to Settings → Integrations, click Connect Patreon, and authorize featurevote on Patreon. Use the Patreon account that owns the campaign; an account without a campaign cannot connect. When connected, the Patreon row shows Connected to with the campaign name and a View campaign link.
Set tier vote weights
Published tiers appear under Vote weights, with each tier’s price and a multiplier. Paid tiers start at ×1, ×2, and ×3 in price order; a free membership tier starts at ×1. Set each multiplier from 1 to 100, then click Save. Weight changes apply to future votes only; existing votes keep the weight they had when cast.
Choose who can view and participate
Patrons only is off by default. When enabled, only active patrons can vote, suggest, and comment. Choose whether non-patrons can view the board or see a lock screen. For free members, choose Same as non-patrons or Same as paying patrons; their votes use the free tier’s weight. With the gate on and non-patrons allowed to view, the board remains readable behind the participation panel.
What patrons and visitors experience
On a gated board, signed-out visitors see a Patrons only panel with Log in with Patreon and a Become a patron link. If non-patrons cannot view the board, they see a lock screen instead. A Patreon login lasts 30 days on a gated board. Patrons post under their Patreon name and are not asked for an email on gated boards. Your team can suggest and comment without being patrons, but team members must log in with Patreon to vote. With Patrons only off, anyone can take part without logging in; if a tier is weighted above ×1, patrons can still log in to claim their weight.
Understand weighted vote totals
A feature card shows points: the sum of vote weights. For example, three patrons with ×3 weights contribute 9 points. When points differ from the number of voters, the card also shows the voter count. Most Voted sorts by points. Slack vote milestones still count people, not points.
If Patreon and Discord are connected, a person linked to both gets the higher of their two weights, not their sum. With both Patrons only and Members only enabled, passing either gate allows participation. If only one gate is enabled, that gate controls participation and the other provider only adds weight.
Refresh tiers and membership updates
With live updates on, Patreon upgrades, downgrades and cancellations update a patron’s future vote weight within seconds. If live updates are off, a patron’s standing is checked when they log in; you can enable live updates from the Patreon row by authorizing again. Use Refresh from Patreon to bring in new, renamed, or re-priced tiers and to re-arm live updates if they stop. Refresh keeps weights for tiers that remain, gives new tiers a default, and removes deleted tiers. Existing votes keep the weight they were cast at.
Disconnect Patreon
Open the Patreon row and click Disconnect. Patron gating turns off and tier weights stop applying to new votes; votes already cast retain their weight. Reconnecting to a different campaign clears logins from the old campaign.
Troubleshoot Patreon connection and login issues
If you see “That Patreon account has no campaign,” authorize with the account that owns your campaign. If a patron’s login has expired, they can log in again; gated-board logins last 30 days. If a new tier is missing, use Refresh from Patreon; unpublished draft tiers are not included. If a patron upgraded but still has the old weight, check whether live updates are off, then enable them or have the patron log in again.
Patreon data and privacy
When you connect, featurevote reads your Patreon identity, campaign, tiers, and campaign member list to recognize patrons and their tiers. When a patron logs in, featurevote reads their identity and campaign memberships. featurevote registers a membership webhook with Patreon and reads membership information back before applying updates. It does not post content, access card details, or charge anyone; access tokens are encrypted before storage.
